Creator Spotlight: Moose Tree Gaming

A long way from throwing down on Super Mario for the SNES, Moose Tree Gaming reflects on his love for video games and how streaming became one of his passions.

Jon-Ross Merasty-Moose, better known to his supporters as Moose Tree Gaming, is from the O-Pipon-Na-Piwin Cree Nation and has been a gamer since he was a kid. It all started with Super Mario Bros. for the SNES and his hobby eventually evolved into the FPS(First Person Shooter) streams you see today.

Educator first and streamer second, Moose’s true passion resides in passing on knowledge. As a fifth year physical education coordinator, Jon-Ross dedicates himself to teaching the next generation life skills and teamwork through sports. This dedication can be felt through the multiple basketball teams he also coaches in his spare time.

Entertaining and bringing people together through communicating, especially his students and players, became difficult through the pandemic. Like most group activities, youth basketball was put on hold for a while.

This is when Moose began streaming online. A few years later, some upgrades, and lots a practice; he’s now receiving recognition from companies like Facebook Gaming, XBOX Gaming, and TikTok for his excellence in the field.

The recognition is just the beginning for Moose. He hopes to continue to evolve his brand into something that will include his whole family. Eventually, he would like to invite professional athletes to his streams so they can discuss their journeys as well as highlight them just having fun.
